How to use it
Pick the craft first
Hedge, sea, storm, kitchen: each says where the witch lives and what she can do. Build the name from that.
What do the villagers call her?
Use a full name for the witch herself and Granny or Mother for what everyone else says.
Halloween and parties
The names work for costumes and party characters as well as stories and games.
Example witch names
Witches: Lilith Ruebane, Petunia Blackbane, Bryony Candlemoor, Auntie Hazel, Old Edwina, Wilhelmina Toadroot, Clementine Moonbottle, Ophelia Mugwortspindle.
Warlocks and wizards of the woods: Black Horace, Black Alder, Ambrose Bramblethorn, Crispin Hemlockwell, Ezekiel Moonkettle, Wolcott Candlebane, Thackery Thistlewick, Crispin Moonthorn.
What makes a witch name
Folk-tale witches usually have plain, old names (Agnes, Maud, Winifred) and a surname from what grows near their cottage: hemlock, nettle, thistle, willow. Villagers often call them Old, Granny or Mother instead. The craft matters too: a sea witch and a kitchen witch are very different neighbors.
