How to use it
Roll in front of your DM
Many tables ask you to roll stats where everyone can see. Share your screen or roll at the table, and keep the first set you roll unless your DM says otherwise.
Assign after you roll
The scores are sorted highest first. Put the best one in your class's main ability and the second in Constitution.
Too low?
Some tables let you reroll if the total of your modifiers is +0 or less, or if no score is above 13. Ask your DM before you start.
Prefer certainty?
Use the point buy calculator or the standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) for a fair, balanced spread instead.
Questions
How do you roll stats in 5e?
Roll four six-sided dice, drop the lowest and add the other three. Do it six times and assign each result to one ability.
What's the average roll with 4d6 drop lowest?
About 12.2 per score, a bit higher than the 10.5 average of 3d6, because dropping the lowest die pulls results up.
What is 2d6+6?
A heroic method some groups use: roll two dice and add 6, so no score is below 8 and the average is 13.
Is it free?
Yes, free and unlimited with no sign-up. The dice are rolled on your device.
