How to use it
Earn the byname
Let your orc's byname come from a story: Skull-Splitter after a fight, Twice-Exiled after a past. Ask the DM if the byname can change mid-campaign.
Half-orc names
Switch the race to Half-orc. Some half-orcs have an orc name, some a human one; picking one says a lot about how they were raised.
Make villains memorable
For an orc warlord, pair a short name with a byname the players will remember long after the fight.
Example orc names
Feminine: Groena Thunderscar, Ontra Splitspear, Yurki Skullhide, Oggra Thunderhorn, Kulva Blackfang, Kulula Coldaxe, Yuruth Stormscar, Narka Burntshield.
Masculine: Grorok Skulleye, Vragul Brokenclaw, Gronak Stonemaw, Onthar Splitmaw, Thokdush Splithide, Murzmar Burntclaw, Grodush Grimeye, Brarok Skulljaw.
How orc names work
Orc names are built from harsh, short syllables (Gr, Kr, Th, Ug, Zh) with endings like -ash, -ok and -gul. Many orcs carry a byname that says what they did, which is often more useful at the table than the name itself. Half-orcs raised among humans may take a human name instead, or keep both.
